Today the Communications Workers of America (CWA) filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge against Apple for multiple federal labor law violations.
In support of Apple retail workers at Atlanta’s Cumberland Mall store, the Communications Workers of America (CWA) formally filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge today against Apple Inc.
We are in the midst of several crises that are intersecting and revealing greater and greater disparities and injustices. There is a lot to grieve, to be enraged by, to feel overwhelmed by, but, this is also an incredible moment of possibility.

As we reach a tragic milestone of 100,000 deaths due to COVID-19, we find ourselves confronting the other plague that has been rampaging through our communities since long before the pandemic: Racism. Compounding the devastation of a global pandemic, which has disproportionately impacted Black communities, Black people in America continue to face threats, brutality, and death for going out jogging. For being poor. For sleeping in their own bed. For watching birds in a park. For being Black.
Every week more and more tech companies announce they'll move to work from home for the long term. Last week, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg told staff that salaries will be adjusted for those who decide not to return to living in the Bay Area. This means that in the coming months more and more workers will be negotiating salary adjustments (read: decreases) if they decide to move away from Silicon Valley...

The surge in worker activism continues as the fallout from COVID-19 gets more brutal for workers across the country. At a time when we're faced with unemployment levels at near Great Depression levels, there's never been a more difficult time to be a worker in America...

Congratulations to the workers at Inside Higher Ed for winning voluntary recognition from their employer! They will join the Washington-Baltimore local of The NewsGuild-CWA. The workers insisted on making their voices heard, and now they have the right to have a say in their working conditions. Great work!
